On this page you will find tips that will make knitting the shawl easier.   Some will be posted on the main page also, but posts on that page will eventually scroll off the page as new posts are added.   Feel free to post comments and tips.

How to keeping track of pattern repeats:     To make it easy to count your stitches and keep track of the pattern, stitch markers are an invaluable tool.  Place a stitch marker at every pattern change or repeat..    For instance.  I placed a marker after my 3 border stitches, then a marker after the first 7 stitches of the pattern, after each repeat of 12 stitches, after the last 8 stitches of the pattern, leaving 3 stitches at the end.  This makes it very easy for me to count my stitches between the markers and figure out the stitch pattern.

How to count rows:    A click counter can be used to count rows.  But, jotting down row numbers on paper works just as well.  I often use a magnetic board and magnet strip to mark my row on the chart, but a post-it note also works well.  Unlike some patterns, this chart is fairly easy to follow and if you lose your spot, it’s pretty easy to find your row by counting the yarn overs and decreases in a section of a row.
